2/3 c shortening OR 1/2 c butter 2/3 c granulated sugar 2 eggs, well-beaten 1 tsp vanilla 3 1/2 c cake flour 1/2 tsp salt 1 1/2 tsp baking powder butter icing colored sugars, etc. Cream shortening or butter. Add sugar gradually; cream together. Add eggs & vanilla and mix. Sift cake flour with salt & baking powder. Chill dough well. Set oven at 400x. Roll dough to 1/8" thickness. Cut with doughnut cutter [or other shapes]. Decorate with fancy colored sugar, non-pareils, and red cinnamon candies [before baking, or after baking put on a thin layer of butter icing and then the decorations.
