Date Bars


3         egg yolks, beaten

1 c       sugar

1 1/4 c   flour (any kind of flour)

1 box     dates, cut fine

1 tsp     (heaping) baking powder

1 tsp     vanilla

1 c       nuts cut not-too-fine

2-3 tbsp  milk

3         egg whites, beaten stiff



Oven: 350x. Mix in order given. It makes a very stiff dough.

Grease pan and spread with a little flour. Just spread in pan to

bake. Bake about 30 minutes minutes. Cut before cold and roll in

sugar. Let stand in air tight can for two or three days before

serving, to ripen.



3 recipes yield 1 blue tin and 1 medium tin.
